STD Facts & Fallacies: Syphilis
This course has been designed for health professionals who interact with client populations at risk for HIV/STD’s including Risk Reduction Specialists (RRS), Community Health Workers, Case Managers, Substance Abuse Counselors and Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS).
This module will address the following topic areas for Syphilis:
- Modes of Transmission
- Clinical Manifestations
- Consequences of Untreated Infection
- Partner Management
- Preventing Infection
- Methods of Diagnosis
- CDC Treatment Guidelines
- CDC Recommendations for Testing
At the end of this Module the learner will be able to:
¨ Identify the type and causative pathogen of the infections
¨ List the ways that the infections are transmitted
¨ List and describe the symptoms of the infections
¨ Describe the consequences of the untreated infections
¨ Describe the CDC recommendations for partner management and their guidelines for testing and treatment
